Helping Saskatoon Become Greener — One Home at a Time
The Greener Together Home Renovation Program aims to empower Saskatoon residents to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and help Saskatoon reach its Net Zero Emissions target by 2050.
Greenhouse gas emissions are trapping heat near the Earth’s surface, causing temperatures to rise. This shift in temperature is changing weather patterns, resulting in more extreme storms, more days above 30 degrees, and forest fires that worsen our air quality.
Energy efficiency is a way we can mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change. Becoming energy efficient is one of the most cost-effective ways to save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and stabilize energy demand. It can also help homes improve indoor air quality and maintain indoor temperatures, ensuring your comfortable at home in extreme heat and cold temperatures.
But, despite the benefits, achieving energy efficiency at home can seem like a daunting task. That’s where the Greener Together Home Renovation Program can help!
Through friendly competition, the Greener Together Home Renovation Program will teach participants easy ways they can become energy efficient at home, resulting in potential savings and lessening their impact on the environment. It will also help residents get the most out of their home energy renovation projects by teaching them the ins and outs of applying for available financial incentives and rebates.
The Greener Together Home Renovation Program and Energy Coaching Service are offered by the City of Saskatoon through funding from the Green Municipal Fund. The services are facilitated by Summerhill, a Canadian-owned and operated Energy Services Company.
